Forty employees of the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE), who were suspended on March 31 after the chemistry paper got leaked for the second time, can now heave a sigh of relief. The Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) on Tuesday ordered the department to reinstate them.

In its order, KAT directed the DPUE to reinstate them with immediate effect and also said that they are entitled to salary from the date of suspension till their reinstatement. Explaining the reason for reinstating the staff, the order notes that none of the suspended employees have been arrested by the criminal investigation department, which is probing the case.

It also states that the department's view to keep them out of the exam process does not hold any merit as the examination process has been completed. It ordered reinstatement of all employees, except one who was set to retire on March 31.
