There was chaos during the counselling for Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) admissions at the Centralised Admission Cell (CAC) when fresh candidates learnt that officials gave preference for in-service lecturers.

As many as 1,385 pre-university lecturers, who did not have B.Ed degrees, were given study leave to complete their B.Ed course and are being given preference during admissions. Commissioner for Public Instruction Mohammad Mohsin said the officials were abiding by the government’s orders.

Following the commotion, officials in the CAC cell said a separate merit list for fresh candidates will be uploaded on the website www.schooleducation.kar. nic.in and the counselling process will be completed by January 30.
