There was chaos at the Rajajinagar ESI hospital on Thursday morning after a four-month-old infant died from pneumonia.

Uproar by family

The family of the infant reportedly created a ruckus outside the hospital and the police had to intervene to tackle the situation.

Pneumonia

The infant was suffering from pneumonia and was brought to the hospital on Wednesday evening and was kept in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. Lankesh, the child’s father, who is a driver, said,

“We got extremely upset in the morning as my baby died five minutes after the doctors changed the treatment,” the father said.

Dire condition

Speaking to The Hindu, S.L. Vig, Medical Superintendent of the hospital said, “The baby was brought to the hospital in a poor condition and we had even explained to the parents that we might have to put the baby on ventilator. But the child died at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday.”

Dr. Vig also clarified that this was not an instance of medical negligence.
