Students rush to submit mark lists
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) premises was teeming with activity on Wednesday as students, who had just got their CBSE and ISC results, rushed to the venue to submit their 12th standard mark lists.
With the CBSE and ISC results being delayed by over a week, the CET rank lists (which includes 12th standard marks for medical seat aspirants) is now likely to be announced two or three days behind schedule.
Originally slated to be released on Thursday, the KEA will now try to compute the rank list and release it by before May 23, a KEA official told The Hindu. However, a formal date has not been announced.
“The earlier students submit their mark lists the faster we will be able to process the results,” the official said.
Over 1.4 lakh students, who took the CET for admissions to professional engineering, medical and dental colleges across the State, are on tenterhooks. Rishabh P., a National Public School student, said he had rushed to the KEA office as soon as he was able to get his results.
“I didn't waste time asking my friends how they have done or see how my school has performed. I was worried because I read news reports that if we didn't make it in time, we will lose our medical rank,” he said.
While the Government has not made any announcement on when the Common Entrance Test results will be declared, KEA officials said the process of computing ranks will barely take a day.
“Despite sending repeated requests to both the boards, they have delayed their results till the eleventh hour. We threatened to go ahead and declare the results as a majority of CET applicants are from second year Pre-University Course. We cannot delay our counselling process for a few students, we told them. Yet, they have delayed it,” the official said.
