The second round of counselling of the Common Entrance Test (CET) commenced on Thursday without the seat matrix for medical and dental seats.
Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) officials said they were going ahead without the matrix as students applying for other courses such as farm sciences, pharmacy and engineering would be inconvenienced.
“We have not received the seat matrix from the government for medical and dental courses,” an official said.
With no medical seat left from the first round of seat allotment, aspirants are literally twiddling their thumbs until the uncertainty is cleared on the government quota seats in minority and deemed colleges.
Incidentally, the meeting that was scheduled on Thursday between minority college managements and the government to decide on the matter did not take place.
For the other courses, seats that were surrendered or cancelled in the first round, or those that were selected as ‘choice four’ by students, will be available in the second round, which ends on July 17.
