CEOs make business decisions. It is their job to steer a company on the path to success. Singing rarely features in their repertoire of skills.

But on Saturday, 14 company heads, including Thomas Chandy, CMD of Hosmat Hospitals; Arati Rao, founder of B-Flat; Philipe Haydon, CEO of The Himalaya Drug Company, Sanjeev Sarin of Tata Coffee, and others took to the stage and rendered beautiful compositions — all for a cause.

They were part of Genesis Foundation’s annual fund-raising concert — CEOs sing for GF (Genesis Foundation) Children. The corporate leaders enthralled the audience with a mix of rock, pop, and Bollywood numbers. The unique concert was planned by Genesis Foundation to raise funds for critically-ill underprivileged children with heart problems. So far, the foundation has reached out to over 1,200 children from across the country. Prema Sagar, founder-trustee of the Genesis Foundation, said this was the 19th year the concert was taking place. “The corporate heads love doing this. Every year we keep an eye out for CEOs who love music and try to bring them on board. It is heart-warming to witness such commitment by these industry stalwarts,” said Ms. Sagar.

The funds generated through the event are used for surgeries, consultation fees, and other expenses of the children.
