Centre to issue advisory to States for addressing issue of racist attacks

The Centre is in the process of issuing an advisory to all State governments, asking them to act sternly against racial incidents.

Union Minister of State for Home Kiran Rijiju who made the announcement during an interaction with people from north-east India organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party State unit here on Saturday, said the Centre was considering such an advisory, which would prescribe various provisions under the law against those indulging in racist activities.

The Union Home Ministry was examining the method adopted by various States to check racism before finalising its proposed advisory.
