In a shocking case, Central Crime Branch (CCB) policemen allegedly turned abductors and forced a chartered accountant to sell his property. They were allegedly caught red-handed on Saturday by members of the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) who rescued the victim CCB headquarters.

Sheikh Nizamuddin (45), is a resident of Yelahanka. In his complaint to the SHRC, he has alleged that he was abducted by the CCB sleuths on Saturday morning at the behest of a realtor. He was allegedly coerced into signing blank sheets of paper and cheques, effectively selling his 2,400 square feet plot for Rs. 57 lakh to realtor Abdul Sattar.

After being whisked away by the policemen, Mr. Nizamuddin managed to alert his wife Nazreen, an advocate, who in turn approached the SHRC. A team from the commission raided the CCB headquarters and rescued him. SHRC officials found no entry of Mr. Nizamuddin’s detention and registered a case.

SHRC Chairperson Meera Saxena met top police officers on Monday and ordered them to conduct a probe.

“The due process of law was not followed. The complainant has alleged that he was abused and forced to sell his property to a realtor. The police can’t intervene in civil matters and arm twist people,” she said. City police commissioner M.N. Reddi promised to look into the matter and take stern action if any officer is found in the wrong.
