Sleuths of the Central Crime Branch recently busted a high-tech prostitution business and arrested three persons, including two women of Iranian nationality, who had allegedly been pushed into the trade.

The accused agent identified as Bidhubhushan Mohapatra, also known as Rakesh and John, would lure customers through social media apps and websites.

On a tip-off, the Women and Narcotics Squad of the CCB contacted the number listed on the websites and requested that the agent come with sex workers who were foreign nationals. A decoy customer was sent to meet them, where the CCB caught them red-handed and arrested the three.

A car and mobile phones were seized as well, an official statement said.

Investigations revealed that the accused Mohapatra, from Orissa, who had completed his PU, had been inspired by escort services being offered online and had developed two pornography websites with the help of his associate Gavin Mendes. He provided his mobile number on the website.

His clients would call on his number or exchange messages via email and WhatsApp. Photos of the women would be sent through these mediums and the rest of the transactions carried out.

A case has been registered with the Hebbal police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Foreigners Act and IT Act.

In another case, the CCB sleuths arrested a gang of seven who were allegedly plotting a dacoity in Girinagar.

After being tipped off about their plot, the sleuths of the Organised Crime Wing of the CCB arrested the seven accused, including history-sheeter Balaji (26), along with his six associates Madan Kumar (23), Madhu (26), Gururaj (19), Abbas Ali (21), Chandrashekar (29) and Vinay (23).

The accused Balaji has seven cases of dacoity and assault booked against him in Girinagar and C.K. Achukattu police stations.

The officials also seized lethal weapons from the accused.
