The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths busted an international fake currency racket, arrested six persons and recovered fake currency worth Rs 9.13 lakh on Monday. The fake currency notes were printed in Pakistan and smuggled into India through Bangladesh.
The accused were nabbed by CCB officials while waiting for the client to handover the consignment near Narayanpura in Mahadevapura.
The accused Afroz (41), Asifulla Khan, Muheebulla Khan, Syed Asif (21), Gouri Bidanur Sabir Ali (23) and Masood (18). Gouri Bidanur Sabir Ali and Masood are from West Bengal.
The fake currencies were of 1,000 and 500 denomination. The accused were in touch with Ishaq and Shanawaz from Kolkota who have been arrested and are in judicial custody in Kolkota in a similar case.
Officials said that there are many people involved in the racket and efforts are on to nab them.
