A gang of six persons, were arrested by sleuths of the Narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch on charges of peddling drugs and psychotropic substances to college students.
The police recovered 49 gm of heroine, 20 gm of cocaine, 4.3 kg of charas, 9.2 gm of MDMA crystal, 180 gm of LSD blotter paper, 19 ecstasy tablets, 2.7 kg of Ganja along with two laptops, 14 mobile phones, a car and two motorcycles besides Rs. 56,000 cash from them.
Based on a tip-off, a team of officials conducted raids in Banasawadi and K.R. Puram and arrested Ezeh Fedelis Ogueguo (33) from Akwa city in Nigeria, Saeidi Mozhded Ehsan (31) from Tehran in Iran, Veda Prakash (24) of BDA Layout in Bangalore, Amaldeep Bora (19) of Assam, and R.K. Momovishal Singh (22) and Rahul Maibum (20) both from Imphal in Manipur.
According to the police, Ogueguo came to Bangalore in 2010 to get treated at St. Martha’s hospital but overstayed. With the help of his Nigerian contacts, he allegedly supplied contraband to his contacts who, in turn, sold it to their contacts.
Ehsan, who had come to Bangalore in 2005 to study, got enrolled in M.S. Ramaiah College for an engineering course. His visa expired in 2012, but he overstayed in India and with the help of Ogueguo, allegedly used to get psychotropic substances and sell it to his contacts, the police said.
Similarly, Amaldeep Bora and Momivishal Singh, studying engineering in the city, used to allegedly procure drugs from Ehsan and sell it to students.
The accused have been booked under NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) and remanded in judicial custody. The police are ascertaining the source of drugs.
A senior police officer of the CCB said Ehsan is a habitual drug peddler and was also arrested in December 2012 for selling magic mushrooms, charas, cocaine and opium worth Rs. 5 lakh from him. After spending nine months in jail, Ehsan came out on bail to continue his drug dealings, the CCB official claimed.
