Case against Dinesh Gundu Rao

September 05, 2013 12:14 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:23 pm IST - Bangalore:

Just as the election proceedings were to start in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao and Subhashnagar councillor T. Mallesh were embroiled in a war of words, on Wednesday.

Sources said that Mr. Rao had come to the BBMP for the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor. It is said that when he was in the office of the Opposition Leader M.K. Gunashekar, Mr. Mallesh approached him and demanded that he be made the next Opposition Leader in the BBMP council. It is alleged that Mr. Rao asked Mr. Mallesh to get out of the chamber.

Upset with this rebuke, Mr. Mallesh lodged a complaint against Mr. Rao with the Ulsoor Gate police, though other Congress councillors tried to placate him. The police have registered a case against non-cognisible offence. Neither Mr. Mallesh nor Mr. Rao were available for comment.
