Burglars stole Rs 2.5 lakh after breaking open the window shield of a car in which the cash was kept on Sarjapura ring road on Thursday.

Binu V.R., who owns a fire safety equipment manufacturing unit in the city, withdrew cash from a Federal bank branch and went to his work place at an under-construction building. He left the cash bag in the front seat, locked the car and went to the first floor to talk to the supervisor. Minutes later he got a call form one of the employees stating that his car window glass was broken.

Binu rushed to the spot to find the window glass shattered and the cash bag missing. In his complaint to the HSR Layout police he said that the had brought the cash to pay the salaries of employees.

The HSR Layout police and Binu verified the CCTV footage to find that a man was following Binu. The police are now trying to identify the person who might have taken away the bag.
