A 24-year-old cab driver, attached to taxi aggregator Ola, was robbed off his cash and valuables by armed men when he was sleeping inside his car in Byatarayanapura in the early hours of Wednesday. The men also attacked Ashok when he put up a fight. He sustained injuries on his hand and thigh, the police said.

According to the police, Ashok, a resident of Nandhini Layout, was tired after working long hours and decided to take a nap. He parked the car on the side of the road near Bharath Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) company on Mysuru Road and fell asleep. Around 2.30 a.m. three men came on a white Honda Dio bike. One of them knocked on the car window. Ashok was asked to get down and the trio took away three mobile phones along with ₹1700 in cash from him on knife-point. When Ashok resisted they attacked him.

After the incident, Ashok approached Byatarayanapura police and filed a complaint. He was taken to a government hospital, where he was administered first-aid.
