BWSSB reduces borewell charges

April 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

Following public outcry, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board has reduced sanitary charges for use of water from borewells and other sources in addition to Cauvery water, from Rs. 100 to Rs. 50 for houses on sites measuring between 600 sq ft and 1,200 sq ft.

The board reduced the charges through a recent amendment to the Bangalore Sewerage Regulations, a release said.

Although the Board was charging Rs. 50 per household irrespective of the site dimension earlier, the charges were increased to Rs. 100 per house from March 2016. This led to opposition by residents.
