Businessman fires in the air to intimidate his partner

The K.R. Puram police have arrested a 45-year-old businessman for opened fire in the air at his office in Devasandra on Saturday in an attempt to intimidate his business partner with whom he had a financial dispute. The office staff and his business partner took cover the moment the shot was fired

Police rushed to the spot and arrested Ravi Kumar before seizing his licenced pistol. He has been charged with attempt to murder.

According to the police, the incident occurred in Ravi Kumar’s office — RKM Sand and Aggregates (a construction material supply firm) — on Devasandra main road, opposite Tent Road in K.R. Puram around 2.30 p.m.

The dispute

According to the police, Ravi Kumar and Girish Babu are in the stone crushing business. They also supply of sand and crushed stones.

On Saturday, Girish Babu, who is a resident of Hosur, had come to Ravi Kumar’s office located on the first floor of a commercial complex. When Babu demanded his share of the profit, which amounts to Rs. 5.5 crore, a heated argument followed, the police stated.

In a bid to intimidate Babu, Ravi Kumar pulled out his 7.65 mm calibre pistol and fired at the roof. Babu and his associates immediately ran out of the office. The employees in the office were shocked and they too rushed outside.

The police was informed. Additional Commissioner of Police P. Harishekaran were among the officers who rushed to the spot.
