A section of syndicate members and academic council members of Bangalore University has opposed the Chief Minister’s decision to allow R.K. Somashekar, currently Registrar (Evaluation), to take over the post of in-charge Registrar (Administration).
The decision has come as a shocker to a section of the Syndicate members who had reportedly submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister a week ago, urging him to probe the financial irregularities against Mr. Somashekar.
Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, D.S. Krishna, a Syndicate member, alleged Mr. Somashekar, who was the chairperson of the university’s Department of Environment Science, has been involved in financial irregularities.
“He has flouted several university rules. Moreover, even at recent academic council meeting, it was alleged that he has nominated blacklisted custodians.”
Meanwhile, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists organised a protest march here on Wednesday opposing the move, boycotting classes.
