BU, RGUHS get new VCs

After several months, Bangalore University and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) have got vice chancellors.

On Tuesday, the Governor and Chancellor of the university, Vajubhai Vala issued an order appointing Prof K.R. Venugopal as vice chancellor of Bangalore University. He is former principal of University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE).

Dr S. Sachidanand has been appointed vice chancellor of RGUHS. He is director in the department of medical education, and dean and director of Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI).

The post of vice chancellor in Bangalore University was vacant since February 7, 2017 when the tenure of B. Thimmegowda came to an end. Since then, five in-charge vice chancellors have held the post.

In RGUHS, the post was vacant since July 14, 2017 after the term of K.S. Ravindranath came to an end. M.K. Ramesh, Registrar (Evaluation) was the in-charge vice chancellor.

Other varsities

The governor appointed Eshwar Bhat as vice chancellor of Karnataka State Law University Hubli.

But the University of Mysore is yet to get a vice chancellor.
