British exam evaluations get Bangalored

May 01, 2013 09:27 am | Updated 09:27 am IST - BANGALORE:

We’re the back office of the world, but here’s something that strikes a note of novelty even when it comes to outsourcing: MeritTrac, the testing and assessments company here, has won a contract to process the evaluations for key British Board examinations.

Sources in MeritTrac did not divulge details owing to non-disclosure agreements, but confirmed that such a project was being undertaken by them.

British news sources reported that the outsourced evaluations were that of examinations conducted by City and Guilds, a London-based education services firm.

“Functional skills” exams in reading, maths and ICT taken by children and adults will be assessed here. The exams are designed to assess the practical application of core skills in the workplace and life in general.

Press reports indicate that City and Guilds had started outsourcing marking to MeritTrac as part of the scheme launched 18 months ago.
