Even 400 years after his death, the world is still obsessed with the stories of William Shakespeare. A talk on this — ‘SHAKESPEARE-So what the fish is all the fuss about’ — will be held at the British Council here on Saturday. There will also be a dramatised storytelling for children to help them understand the bard’s plays better. A film version of Hamlet will also be screened.
First up is ‘Shakespeare for Children’, where the bard’s plays will be told in a dramatised manner with fun activities. This is ideal for children eight years and above.
In the afternoon, the cinematic version of Hamlet , brought out by director Margaret Williams, will be screened. Ms. Williams’ Written on Skin (Royal Opera House/BBC) has won many awards, including the Diapason d’Or. Hamlet was produced by Anne Beresford and Debbie Gray, the team behind the highly praised Peter Grimes on Aldeburgh Beach , also directed by Ms. Williams.
Last up is a talk by Anirudh Nair of Wide Aisle Productions. Unravelling the mysteries of the bard and why the world remains obsessed with him, he will explore the Elizabethan age as well as Shakespeare’s London.
