Bright young minds all set to battle for top honours

18th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz tomorrow

The regional finals of the multi-city event The Hindu Young World Quiz will be held at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Gayathri Devi Park Extension, 16th Cross, Malleswaram on January 10. The 18th edition of the event is presented by State Bank of India and powered by Eveready Industries India Ltd. The event, which is an integral part of The Hindu in School (THiS) initiative, is open for students in two categories — Juniors (from classes 4 to 6) and Seniors (from classes 7 to 9).

This year, there will be spot registrations too. The registration fee is ₹200 per team. A team, consisting of two students of same school, can register. Any number of teams from the same school can participate. However, at the final on-stage round of regional finals, a maximum of two teams from the same school will be selected.

For the Juniors, the registrations will begin at 9 a.m. and the preliminary written round will start at 10 a.m. For the Seniors, the registration starts at 1 p.m. and the preliminary written round will begin at 2 p.m. After the preliminary round, six teams will be selected for the final on-stage round. No participant will be allowed inside the auditorium once the preliminary rounds begin. Participants are instructed not to carry cell phones inside the auditorium.

The prize distribution ceremony will be held at 4.15 p.m. Farooque Shahab, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, Local Head Office, Bangalore Circle, will be the chief guest and present prizes to the winners.

The winners at the regional finals will receive trophies and merit certificates from The Hindu and goodies from sponsors. All the participants will receive participation certificates. There will be prizes for people in the audience for instant answers.

Quizmaster V.V. Ramanan will host the show. Arrow Publications is the Knowledge Partner of the event. Naturo is the Gift Partner while Bejois is the Beverage Partner.
