Bride-to-be found murdered

A 25-year-old bank employee, engaged to get married on Wednesday, was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in Yeshwanthpur on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Ramya, a resident of Mathikere, working in the credit division with a private bank. Ramya was engaged to her boyfriend and the marriage was scheduled for Wednesday. While the family of Ramya was busy in last-minute shopping, she was found missing from home.

Passers-by noticed a body of a woman at an isolated place on HMT Road and informed the police. The police, who were trying to ascertain her identity stumbled upon Bhojraj family, who were also searching for their missing daughter.

The family that had not filed a missing complaint fearing social stigma, identified the body. Ramya was strangled to death with a wire and prima facie evidence ruled out the possibility of sexual attack. According to the police, Ramya was engaged to Nandan, who is involved in his father’s construction business.

The police have picked up Nandan and few of Ramya’s friends for questioning. “We are investigating to ascertain why Ramya went out of the house and who saw her last,,” the police said . The police are also analysing the mobile call details of the deceased.

The body has been handed over to the family after the post-mortem. “We are waiting for the report to confirm the cause of death,” the police said.

Mentally challenged raped

A 30-year-old mentally challenged woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Ramamurthy Nagar on Tuesday. The incident occurred when the victim was alone at home and her family had gone out to visit some relatives.

A neighbour noticed the accused walking out of the victim’s house, and on suspicion he went inside only to find the victim in a state of shock and crying. Police said that the victim explained to him of the sexual attack. The Ramamurthy Nagar police, based on her statement, picked up Sudhir, a jobless man staying nearby. The police subjected both the accused and the victim to the medical examination. The police have registered a case of rape and are investigating.

Run over

A 52-year-old man, who was attempting to cross a railway track, was killed after he came under the train near Subramanya Nagar railway track near Malleswaram on Wednesday morning.

The deceased identified as U. Chandrashekhar, a resident of Subramanyanagar, failed to notice the oncoming train. The accident might have occurred at around 9 am, the police said and suspected that it could be a case of suicide.
