March 03, 2013 11:02 am | Updated 11:02 am IST - Bangalore:

A teenage bride hanged herself in Dr. Ambedkar Nagar in Vijinapura on Friday night.

The Ramamurthynagar police said Bhuvaneshwari (19) was depressed about her husband’s alleged extramarital affair.

The girl, a garment worker, had married a cab driver, Sunil Kumar, about four months ago but their relationship was rocky because of the husband’s alleged affair with one of Bhuvaneshwari’s colleagues. On Friday evening too the couple argued, following which Kumar left. Neighbours later discovered Bhuvaneshwari hanging and Kumar absconding.

Bhuvaneshwari’s father told the police his son-in-law was harassing his daughter.

Rival murdered

A lorry driver was arrested for allegedly murdering a colleague on Friday evening on the suspicion that the latter was having an affair with his wife.

The Yelahanka New Town police said the accused, Tansheer Pasha (23), had married Suraya Banu (20) about six months ago. He later realised that his wife and Imran Pasha (23), his colleague who operated a stone crusher in a quarry, had been in love prior to the marriage. On Friday evening, a brawl broke out between the two when Tansheer spotted Imran talking to Suraya at their residence in Chikkabettanahalli. Tansheer is said to have allegedly assaulted Imran following which he allegedly stabbed him on the neck with an iron rod.

The grievously wounded Imran died in Bowring Hospital late on Friday.

The Yelahanka New Town Police arrested Tansheer.
