The J.P. Nagar police have achieved a breakthrough in the murder of the 33-year-old HR executive, who was found murdered at her house in Venkatadri Layout in J.P Nagar in August. Her 5-year-old daughter is the sole witness in the case.

The police have closed in on a realtor, identified as Arun, a resident of Doresanipalya off Bannerghatta Road. The deceased, Jyothi Lakshmi, a divorcee, was found with stab injuries on her neck and stomach while her daughter was found lying unconscious next to her. Except for a small cut, the girl was unharmed.

However, she was in a state of shock. According to sources, Arun, who had suffered losses in business, was looking for a house. “The security guard had told Arun that one by name Jyothi Lakhmi and her daughter who lived on the same street would be vacating the house soon. However, Arun allegedly planned to kill the woman. On August 1, he visited the house of Jyothi Lakshmi on the pretext of being interested to move into the building.

Once inside the house, he allegedly stabbed her to death. He pushed the girl away when she started screaming,” police sources said. DCP South H.S. Revanna said that they were questioning many suspects as part of the investigation.

He also refused to confirm the extent to which Arun was involved in the case.
