The family of a brain-dead woman saw life even in her death.
Her vital organs will now save several precious lives with the Zonal Coordination Committee for Karnataka (ZCCK) coordinating the organ harvesting and transplants on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old woman, her husband and two children were victims of a road accident in Mandya on August 28. While the husband died and two children were injured, the woman was declared brain-dead at BGS Global Hospital on the Uttarahalli-Kengeri Road.
While one of her kidneys was donated to a patient in BGS Global Hospital, the other went to Columbia Asia Hospital in Hebbal.
The corneas were accepted by the Lions' Eye Bank while the heart valves went to Narayana Hrudayalaya, according to ZCCK Secretary D. Ramesh.
ZCCK, set up by the Government in 2005, has coordinated 14 multi-organ donations so far.
The waiting list of registered kidney patients was 450, Dr. Ramesh added.
