It has been four days since the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) enforced mandatory segregation of waste at source.
Ideally, the city should have been rid of garbage given the palike’s ambitious plans on segregation. Yet, garbage continues to be strewn across the city.
Analysing the garbage collection details over the past four days, the BBMP has found that segregation is not satisfactory in wards under Bommanahalli zone.
“These wards are at the bottom of the pyramid. More concerted efforts by involving residents’ welfare associations and non-governmental organisations will be taken in these wards,” said Rajneesh Goel, BBMP Commissioner.
He told The Hindu on Thursday that the civic authority would intensify awareness programmes that would be spearheaded by local councillors.
