A 17-year-old pre-university student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Jigani on Saturday, two days after she went missing from her home.
Police said that the girl went missing on Thursday after her parents opposed and reprimanded her for an alleged relationship with a boy. The parents had filed a complaint with the Bannerghatta police. They accuse the boy of being responsible for her death. According to them, the boy wanted to marry her, which led her to take the extreme step.
On Saturday passers-by found the body and alerted the police. The police sent the body for post-mortem.
The Jigani police have taken up a case of unnatural death.
