Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) chief R.P. Sharma is accused of amalgamating two sites to construct his house at Doddagubbi village in Bidarahalli hobli.
On Saturday, Leader of the Opposition in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) council M. Udayshankar, alleging that Mr. Sharma had flouted several norms, said the house was being constructed without requisite approval from any competent authority.
“The senior police official has been unnecessarily targeting BBMP officials for building bylaw violations. According to information obtained through RTI, no plan has been approved by the Bangalore Development Authority for any construction on survey numbers 10/1, 10/2, 10/3 and 10/4. The official has also amalgamated two sites,” he said.
Rubbishes charge
On his part, Mr. Sharma brushed off the charge saying his house was not built on these survey numbers. The issue came under the jurisdiction of the village panchayat, outside the BBMP limits. Besides, he had “proper approval” from the Government. “I have followed all legal parameters and am not answerable to anybody. Also, I have submitted all documents while seeking government sanction.”
Mr. Sharma said the BBMP council was wasting public money discussing issues that did not come under its jurisdiction. “I will take all action to redeem my honour. There is propaganda to malign me, as they (councillors) are finding my actions that have been taken under legal framework unpalatable.”
