BMTC curtails afternoon services

June 09, 2014 12:24 am | Updated 12:24 am IST - BANGALORE:

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation authorities have reduced the frequency of buses on certain routes in the afternoon while increasing services when the passenger load is heavier for optimal utilisation of its fleet.

Anjum Parwez, Managing Director, BMTC, said, “We increase frequency in the morning and evening but downsize in the afternoon.”

He denied that Vayu Vajras are going near empty to Kempegowda International Airport. On the contrary, BMTC is seeing a growth in the number of people using these buses. It could be possible that there are fewer commuters in the afternoon on the airport route, but buses cannot be withdrawn for that reason alone. Even if there are two passengers, BMTC buses must operate, he added.
