BMTC collects over Rs. 16 lakh in drive against ticketless travel

During October, the checking staff of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) collected Rs. 16,06,843 as penalty and booked 6,277 cases against conductors for dereliction of duty in and around Bangalore city, a press release said. The staff checked 39,910 trips and penalised 8,442 ticketless passengers.

During the same period, the staff penalised 3,068 male passengers occupying seats exclusively reserved for women passengers and collected fine totalling Rs. 3,06,800.
