Leesha N.S., one of the Malleswaram blast victims who wrote her Common Entrance Test (CET) in hospital, has unfortunately not been able to secure a rank in the competitive exam. Leesha, a student of Maharani Lakshmi Ammani College for Women, had her left leg bone crushed in the April 17 blast.
Her father, Doreswamy, told The Hindu that Leesha, who is still in hospital, was disheartened with her results. She was unable to clear her Pre-University mathematics paper, which was always a tough subject for her.
“It has been a very difficult and painful time for her and our family. We are waiting for her to clear the PU supplementary examination and see how things proceed from there,” he said and added that they have approached the government for educational as well as financial concessions.
Shattered
Leesha’s friend Rakshita Sujai from Seshadripuram College, also injured in the blast and who underwent skin graft on her exposed left leg bone, was upset with her rank — 62,295.
She burst into tears as she told The Hindu : “I know that I could have done better had it not been for the blast. I had no time to study and it put me at a great disadvantage. I want to pursue aeronautical engineering but now that I have performed so badly, I can’t say what will happen. I am extremely dejected.”
Her father, N. Jayanna, said: “She was in the Intensive Care Unit and there was nothing any of us could do. We have approached the Home Minister and we hope he will help us get a seat in some college.
“She aspired to study in either PES Institute of Technology or R.V. College of Engineering but has lost all hope now.”
