BJP members demand CBI inquiry into alleged BBMP scam

January 31, 2015 03:11 pm | Updated 06:30 pm IST - Bengaluru:

Around 900 members of the Bharatiya Janata Party led by former Home Minister R. Ashok staged a protest demanding CBI inquiry into an alleged scam involving R.R. Nagar constituency MLA Muniratna Naidu and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The protesters were detained by the police when they marched from Maurya Circle towards the Chief Minister’s residence.

The protesters alleged that the recent raid by the Lokayukta had revealed that R.R. Nagar MLA Muniratna Naidu and his relatives, who are contractors in the BBMP, are involved in the scam.

The State government had even transferred Superintendent of Police B. Mahesh who raided the premises. The government is trying to hush up the case, the protestors alleged.
