A 25-year-old software engineer was killed on the spot and his friend severely injured when the motorcycle they were riding hit the median on Hosur road in the wee hours of Monday.

Manoj Shetty, a native of Shimoga, who died in the mishap, was returning home after attending a party on Sunday with his friends. His friend Rakshith, a student of BMS College, was rushed to a private hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

According to the police, Manoj lost control over his bike and crashed into a median. He died on the spot as an iron rod from the grill on the median pierced him, police said.
