‘Bigg Boss’ told not to use copyright material

June 29, 2013 10:26 am | Updated 10:26 am IST - Bangalore:

A City Civil and Sessions Court in Bangalore has restrained Eenadu Kannada television channel and Prism TV Pvt. Ltd. from using films, sound recording, music, and lyrics, the copyright of which is held by Lahari Recording Company, in their television show “Bigg Boss”.

The 18th Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge, G.R. Patil, granted temporary injunction in a suit filed by Lahari Recording Company. It has been alleged that during the “Bigg Boss” episode telecast on April 5, a song, “Yarivalu”, from the Kannada film, Ramachari , was used in the background. The company claimed that some other songs, copyright of which are held by it, too are being used in the final episode of “Bigg Boss”, to be telecast on Sunday, and it would amount to infringement of its copyright.
