Writer K S Bhagavan’s remarks related to Lord Ram kicked up a row at the ongoing Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahithya Sammelana in Mysuru when he questioned his ‘eligibility’ to be worshipped.

While presiding over a session on ‘Neglected communities’ at Maharaja’s Centenary Hall on Saturday, Prof. Bhagavan referred to the ongoing Dharma Sansad in Udupi where a demand has been raised for a Ram temple at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. He questioned the gathering whether they could worship Lord Ram, who had sent his pregnant wife Sita to the forest.

His remark sparked a protest by a section of the audience while another section egged him on to continue.

On Saturday, Prof. Bhagavan was escorted out of the venue by a posse of police personnel.
