Bescom lineman electrocuted

July 06, 2015 01:12 pm | Updated 01:12 pm IST - Bengaluru:

A Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) lineman was electrocuted while repairing a transformer at Fraser Town on Saturday night.

The police gave his name as Suresh Babu H. (48), a resident of KEB Quarters on Lazer Road. After Suresh received a call on a transformer problem, he, accompanied by another lineman, Srinivasa, went to the spot and found that the transformer was not functioning. They switched off the power and Suresh started repairing the transformer when he was electrocuted.

Soon, Srinivasa alerted his higher officials and also informed the police and called an ambulance. Suresh’s body was shifted to Dr. Ambedkar Medical College for post-mortem.

Preliminary enquiry revealed that a generator in an apartment complex nearby was started, and this could have caused electricity to pass through the wire. Bescom officials are conducting a detailed probe to ascertain the actual cause of the accident.

The police are awaiting the post-mortem report.
