BESCOM lineman electrocuted

A 48-year-old BESCOM lineman was electrocuted while repairing a transformer in Frazer Town on Saturday night.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Suresh Babu, a resident of KEB Quarters on Lazer Road. He was working as lineman with BESCOM. On Saturday night, he got a call that a transformer was not functioning. He, accompanied by another lineman, Srinivas went to the spot and found that the transformer was not functioning. They switched off the electricity power and started the repair work.

As Babu started the repair work of the transformer, he was electrocuted and died on the spot.

Srinivas immediately alerted the higher officials and informed the police and ambulance. He was shifted to Ambedkar Medical College for post mortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered in Pulakeshi Nagar police station.

The BESCOM officials are probing the matter to ascertain the cause of the death.
