17-year-old Shirisha, who was injured in the shootout at Pragathi College hostel in Kadugodi on Tuesday night, is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after a team of doctors performed corrective surgeries on her at Manipal Hospital on Wednesday.

Though she is recuperating, a small foreign particle still seems to be struck in the throat making it difficult for her to speak properly, said the doctors at the hospital adding that she has been advised complete rest for another week.

Presently, Shirisha is under liquid diet since the foreign particle is stuck in her throat. Treatment is on to remove the particles after which she will be given a normal diet, doctors said.

Meanwhile members of various organisation staged a protest in front of the school demanding strict action against the management for security lapse leading to the incident.

The protestors also demanded suspension of the police officials concerned and accused them of not handling the case properly.
