November 28, 2014 01:05 am | Updated 01:05 am IST - Bengaluru:

A 37-year-old homemaker was murdered at her residence on Thursday. Police said that the victim, Vijayalakshmi, was strangled with a towel.

Her husband, Narasimhaiah, an assistant engineer with Devanahalli Zilla Panchayat, had left for work around 9.30 a.m. Their son found the front door ajar on returning home from school. He found his mother in an unconscious state and rushed her to a hospital with the help of neighbours. She was declared brought dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Vijayalakshmi had prepared coffee, which was still on the stove. “Someone known to the family might have visited. We are checking if valuables are missing,” said a police officer.
