Italian superbike brand Benelli will be launched in Bengaluru in early February.

After the entry of Italian sports car Lamborghini, the city roads will soon hear the vroom of Italian super bike brand Benelli. DSK MotoWheels, the partner of Hyosung in India, is planning to launch Benelli in Bengaluru in early February 2015.

DSK Benelli is looking for real estate space in upmarket locations such as Lavelle Road and Brigade Road for a showroom.

It will bring five bikes in the 300-1130 CC category, which will be priced between Rs 3 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh. DSK is planning a national launch in January in Mumbai. Customers in Bengaluru can start booking in the same month.

This will mark Benelli’s entry in the Asian market. Benelli bikes will come to India as Complete Knock Down (CKD) kit and will be assembled at DSK’s facility in Pune, Maharashtra.

“Bikers in Bengaluru always love sports bike. The growth in the number of High Networth Individuals (HNIs) in the city provides a huge opportunity for super bikes to enter the market. Apart from demand in the city, we are seeing huge demand from Tier II regions in the State,” said Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman, DSK Motowheels.

The company expects to sell around 300 bikes through its Bengaluru showroom, or around 25 per cent of the total sale in India in 2015.

In January, British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph had opened its first showroom on St Mark’s Road, in partnership with Keerthi Motors. The company sells 10 models, which are priced in the range of Rs 5.7 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

Italian company Ducati had opened its first showroom in Bengaluru in 2011, in association with Matrix Agencies, but shut shop after a few months. According to sources, the company is planning a re-launch.
