BDA engineers nabbed for accepting bribe

Lokayukta sleuths on Thursday night trapped two Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) engineers while accepting a bribe of Rs seven lakh from a person for an official favour.

The accused Rudre Goudar, Assistant Executive Engineer and Adani, a Junior Engineer were caught red-handed at their office in R.T. Nagar while receiving the bribe amount. Rudre Goudar’s driver Mohan was present as well. The trio have been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act and produced before the magistrate for further procedure, Superintendent of Police, Sonia Narang said.

According to Ms. Narang, the complainant was given an alternate site measuring 2,400 square feet by the BDA at HBR Layout after acquiring his five guntas of land in Banasawadi.

The accused was directed to measure the site and submit a report, following which the trio demanded Rs. eight lakh from the complainant.

A complaint was filed with the Lokayukta, based on which a trap was laid and the accused were arrested, she said.
