Murder cracked

The Bagalur police have arrested a construction labourer for killing his girlfriend and setting ablaze the body to make it look like a suicide.

The police initially assumed Balamma (30), who lived alone, immolated herself on April 6, but the post-mortem report said she was strangled to death. In the course of their investigations, they came to know she was married to Selvam, but was having an affair with Kupendra (29).

When Kupendra came to know there were other men in her life, he killed her and set her body on fire before fleeing.

The police initially suspected Selvam, but found him innocent as he was in his Krishnagiri at the time of the murder. They came to know from neighbours about Kupendra, who had since gone missing. He was tracked down in Kannur and under interrogation, confessed.
