BDA, BBMP engineers are blind, says Karnataka High Court

April 05, 2013 08:28 am | Updated 08:28 am IST - Bangalore:

Observing that failure of the engineers working in the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has led to illegal constructions and related litigations, the Karnataka High Court on Thursday orally said that “they [engineers] have become blind”.

‘Always happen’

“These things [illegal constructions] keep happening in front of their eyes. But, they don’t take any action. The engineers have hardly two or more roads to take care of. They can easily check whether permission was obtained or not, and whether construction is in conformity with the plan or not. But they don’t do that,” a Division Bench comprising K.L. Manjunath and Justice Ravi Malimath observed orally while hearing a petition complaining about certain illegal constructions.
