The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) removed six illegal hoardings on Monday.

According to Y.M. Ramachandra Murthy, Deputy Commissioner (Advertisements), the BBMP officials brought down two hoardings at Ullasappa Circle, Kammanahalli Main Road, Banaswadi for violation of advertisement bylaws and two other unauthorised hoardings.

Later, two more unauthorised hoardings were brought down on Kacharakanahalli Main Road, HBR Layout, Hennur Main Road.

He said that over the past month, the officials had taken up a street-wise survey of hoardings and collected data, along with photographs. “We will bring down illegal hoardings. If the bylaws have been violated, the BBMP will levy huge penalties on the owners, besides issuing notice.”

Mr. Murthy said the penalty would be levied according to advertisement bylaws. “If we cannot trace the owners of the illegal hoardings, we will levy penalty on the building owners.”
