The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has agreed to share the costs of the rail-cum-road flyover that the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is building between Ragigudda, J.P. Nagar and Silk Board Junction. Of the total cost of ₹330 crore, the BBMP has agreed to bear ₹100 crore. The civic body will pay the same to BMRCL, which is executing the project.

The project has already been tendered by BMRCL in its Phase II work. However, the cost sharing had been a bone of contention. The BBMP inked the deal with BMRCL on Friday.

The rail-cum-road flyover, which will have two levels, will have a four-lane flyover at a height of eight metres above ground level, while an elevated metro corridor will be built at a height of 16 metres from the ground.

BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad said that they were sharing costs since BMRCL, unlike in other projects, was also adding road infrastructure along with Metro lines. The project is expected to be completed by 2020 and is hoped to decongest Silk Board, the most congested junction in the city.
