The BBMP resumed its demolition drive on Tuesday, albeit on a smaller scale. A few buildings that had encroached on storm water drains (SWDs) in Doddabommasandra, Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Lalbagh Road were either fully or partially razed.

Civic officials also targeted a small playground in R.R. Nagar. “We have demolished three buildings in Doddabommasandra, two in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, with one small playground getting smoothened and one big building on Lalbagh Road,” said Sidde Gowda, chief engineer, BBMP.

He added that in the coming days, they would be moving consistently to remove all encroachments identified by the civic body on 111 SWDs.

In Doddabommasandra, a portion of a house was razed along with two commercial properties. One of the commercial buildings had escaped demolition last week because it had a mobile tower. The tower was removed before officials could reach the spot on Tuesday morning.
