The election notification for the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) polls scheduled on August 22 was issued by the civic body’s commissioner G. Kumar Naik, here on Monday.
According to the poll notification, the model code of conduct that came into effect on July 17 will end on August 26. For the elections, as many as 6,733 polling stations will be set up across the 198 wards, where 71.8 lakh eligible voters can exercise their franchise.
Voters' list
Those whose names are not included in the voters' list may get their names added by submitting Form 6 (available in the ward offices) by August 10. Citizens may also visit BBMP's website (www.bbmp.gov.in) to know more details about the same and submit the applications.
Citizens may also check the voters' list that has been uploaded on the website to know their polling station, besides verifying their details.
Polling stations
According to the notification, one polling station will be established for every 1,500 eligible voters. Auxiliary polling stations will be established in places where the number of eligible voters is more than 1,500.
In this election, like in the previous BBMP polls, EVMs will be used. As many as 9,309 control units and 11,635 ballot units will be used, the notification said.
