Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has filed a case against leaders and workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for illegally putting up banners and festoons to greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his visit to the city.

Mr. Modi and top party leaders are meeting here during a two-day national executive.

Acting on a complaint filed by the jurisdictional assistant executive engineer, the High Grounds police have booked a case under disfigurement of public places. They are looking for the leaders who put them up and the publishers of the banners.

The High Grounds police have been directed to list the culprits and take strict action against them, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division) Sandeep Patil said .

A few days back, the Upa Lokayukta, Justice Subhash B. Adi, had directed the civic body to initiate proceedings against persons and organisations who illegally put up banners especially in A Zone (which is the central business district). He had summoned BBMP officials for explanation.
