Eight persons, including a BBMP councillor, have been booked for assaulting a toll collection staff and ransacking the booth near Devihalli Gate on Nelamangala-Hassan Highway on Sunday night.

The Nelamangala rural police registered a first information report (FIR) against the Rajagopala Nagar councillor and his seven associates.

The police said that the eight came in an SUV around 1 a.m. and were stopped at the toll gate. But, a person who claimed to be a BBMP councillor, said that the staff had no right to demand toll from him.

This led to a clash in which two booth employees, Lokesh and Madhu, were injured, the police said. The police, who were alerted, seized the SUV and detained three persons.
