December 20, 2013 11:59 pm | Updated 11:59 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Police Commissioner Raghavendra H. Auradkar on Friday informed the Petition Committee of the Legislative Assembly that bankers had sought more time to install burglar alarms at ATM kiosks in the city.

He said bank managements had been given time till January 12 to deploy security personnel, install CCTV cameras and burglar alarms at ATM kiosks. And banks have expressed their inability to install automatic locking doors at ATMs on account of technical difficulties, he said.

Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee directed the Commissioner to suggest to the bankers to install door codes to prevent crimes. The former Minister and MLA S. Suresh Kumar suggested that banks install only one ATM machine at a kiosk.

Rajakaluve

BBMP Commissioner M. Lakshminarayana said that survey work of 285 km of the 856-km-long rajakaluve was completed.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola said the metro works were delayed owing to soft soil and underground station works. All works under the Phase-I would be completed by mid-2015.
